Homecoming tickets are now on sale.  The cost is $35.00 per ticket.  Homecoming will take place at Amarante’s in New Haven on Friday October 27 from 7-10pm.  See Donna for tickets.

 

Attention all Freshmen!

 

Your voice matters.  The Student Council is currently seeking freshmen class representatives to serve on this year’s council.  Two representatives will be elected by your freshmen class on October 5th.  Registration forms are available in Emerson room 213 and are due no later than 2:30 PM this Friday, September 22.  See Mrs. Nuzzo for details. 

 

An admissions counselor from Eastern CT State University will be visiting Sound School on Friday, September 22nd at 1:30pm in the Café.  Please remember to sign-up in Naviance if you would like to attend this college session and learn about what Eastern has to offer.  

 

Attention all Freshmen Camping Trip upper class chaperones and lean-to leaders. If you did not attend yesterday’s meeting, you must attend today’s leadership training with Randy in the Cafe during G Period. No one should miss science or tech for the training. 

 

If you are looking for opportunities to earn community service hours, please check the schools website, sound.school, and check the announcements for information regarding the Multi-town River Clean Up and the 2017 Hammonassett Festival. If you need more information or have questions, please stop by the Career Services office. Thank you!

 

Picture Day is this Friday in the library. ALL students and staff must be photographed. If you did not get your order forms, ask your English teacher or Katie. Each grade will be called down one at a time throughout the morning, teachers please accompany your classes when possible. The schedule is in the email version of these announcements.

9:25- 10:05- Juniors

10:10-10:50- Seniors

10:50-11:45- anyone who missed their time slot and any faculty who wasn’t photographed.

Students interested in participating in The Sound School Rowing and Seamanship Directed Lab are welcome to meet with our group TODAY after school in Foote 756.

 

Attention Freshman who are interested in finding out about the Sound School Rowing/Seamanship program. We would love to see you this afternoon at 2:40 pm in Room 728 in the Foote building. If you are interested and are unable to attend the meeting please touch base with either Jeff Alpert, Neil Geist or  Bob Lizotte or a member of the rowing program.

 

Do you like electronics and water? Put them together and you’ve got a sizzling combination. If you’re interested in building an underwater Remotely-Operated Vehicle and developing your team building skills, then the Underwater Technology/ROV Directed Lab might be the place for you. There will be a meeting this Friday September 22nd from 2:30-4:30 pm, in Dave Low’s room, Emerson 203. Any students interested are welcome to join. Hope to see you there!

 

The Science Fair afterschool program will start TODAY in Foote 761. If you are unable to attend this meeting please inform Paula or Kim if you are interested in the program.

 

There will be a Bermuda Meeting for any Senior who is interested. Room 748 TODAY G period.

 

Want to earn SAE credit tagging horseshoe crabs, hatching and releasing Atlantic salmon, and other marine biology field studies?

George Baldwin’s afterschool Marine Resources Directed Laboratory will meet TODAY, at 2:45.  See George for additional info.

 

Love Languages?  You can explore the world through language study at the World CLASS Program at Yale University. World CLASS begins the week of October 16, 2017, and ends on May 18, 2018. Classes meet for an hour and a half one day a week on the Yale campus, beginning no earlier than 4 PM. The 2017-18 offerings are: Arabic, Dutch, German, Italian, Japanese, Swahili, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Urdu. The program costs $400/course, but ALL NEW HAVEN PUBLIC STUDENTS RECEIVE A FULL SCHOLARSHIP. A certificate will be provided upon completion, and New Haven high school students will be awarded a Pass for .25 credits in the language studied. Deadline to apply is October 6th, but don’t wait, since classes can fill up quickly. DETENTION begins next week for students who have unexcused tardies. Please make sure you are on time. But if you must be late, please make sure your parent calls in for you.
