The Competitive rowing season came to a close this past Saturday when the team traveled to Fort Point Channel in Boston MA for the New England Youth Open Water Rowing Championship. The team left school at 4:45am and traveled the nearly 3 hours to the race and the amazing thing is, everyone showed up on time. The Sound School team did well,  we retained our Coxed 4  trophy for the Nautical mile and won the Coxed 4 First Boat Crewmaster Sprints. The crews of our Second 6 and 4 boats and our Novice 4 rowed extremely well too. Many, Many thanks to the parents, and grandparents for their continued support throughout the season and a special thanks to Bob Lizotte who we depend on to get us to our races safe and sound.

Applications for spring semester college classes are now available in Student Services. Classes will run from mid-January to mid-May. You need an overall B average or better, which is the minimum to be considered for a college class through the Independent Studies Department. You also need PSAT or SAT scores of at least 400 on English and 400 on Math. An overall B+/A- average with 500’s or straight A’s with 600’s may qualify you for Southern or Yale, in addition to qualifying for Gateway. Please stop by Student Services and get an application from Julie or Caroline. Return it completed and meet with Julie, our Independent Studies Coordinator, on any Tuesday in November, for the mandatory interview. Returning students are also required to meet with Julie and complete a spring term application. All interviews and applications must be completed by November 28th, so don’t delay!
