Attention ALL Sound School students and staff, this week The FFA Leadership Group will be hosting many different events in support of Autism Awareness Month. Keep your eyes peeled for hidden puzzle pieces and if you find one bring it to the bulletin board outside of the Tech 2 room and you will win a goody bag filled with treats. There will be a bake sale during G Period TODAY. You can also buy a ribbon to support Autism Awareness.

 

Our third annual Shake it Up! Day is tomorrow!  The workshop schedules have been posted in McNeil, Thomas, and Foote so all students should take a minute later today to see where you will be going for your workshops tomorrow.  All schedules are final.  Tomorrow morning you will go to your adviser before we break off into our first Shake it Up! Day workshops, so report to advisement at 8am.  Lunch waves will be based on the building where your third workshop is being held.

 

Looking for a summer job? New Haven Parks & Rec is hiring for Summer Camp Counselors. You must be at least 16 years old and live in New Haven to apply.  If you are interested, pre-applications are in a folder on the bulletin board on the second floor in Emerson Building. Please return the completed application to the Career Services Office or the Career Services mailbox in McNeil Building by April 24th.

 

Don’t be bored over the spring break!  The Career Services Office has multiple community service opportunities waiting for you. 

 

The Quinnipiac River Watershed Association is sponsoring two cleanups:  this Saturday April 14th and Saturday April 21st from 9 to12.

 

Mitchell Library in New Haven is also sponsoring a cleanup on April 14th from 10 to 1.

 

The Friends of Edgewood Park hosts cleanups every Tuesday in the park from 10 to 12.

 

Comcast Cares is sponsoring a beautification project on April 21st at Clinton Avenue School from 8:30 to 1:30.  Anyone interested in volunteering must register online by this Friday, April 13th.

 

The American Red Cross is sponsoring Sound The Alarm in the Hill/Fair Haven neighborhoods on April 28th.  They especially need bi-lingual students to help register Spanish-speaking participants.

 

Dominate the Day Foundation is holding a 5K race in West Haven on June 3rd.  Anyone interested in volunteering must register online.

 

Habitat for Humanity has a current build site on Vernon Street in New Haven and will be adding a second one on Lenox Street by early May.

 

Junta in Fair Haven is recruiting student volunteers for leadership development.

 

‘R Kids on Dixwell Avenue is accepting student volunteers to greet visitors, assist with special events for children and families, and assist with office work.

 

Schooner is currently recruiting for volunteer Junior Counselors for this summer.

Students who stay after school MUST be in a structured and supervised program. If you are not in a program, you must go home on your regularly scheduled transportation.

 

Sound School get ready to BEAUTIFY and CLEAN UP our campus. Monday April 23rd during Advisement all advisement groups will be participating in A CAMPUS WIDE CLEAN UP ~ that’s the Monday after vacation! SOOOOOOO……Wear clothing that you don’t mind getting a little grungy and be ready to work!

 

Attention Students! There will be a community service project at the Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen on Monday, April 23. That’s the Monday after break, so mark your calendars. Interested students can sign up with Hector Rivera or Pebbles Lacross.

 

 

Sound School SAGA will be participating in the day of silence .The Day of Silence is the GLSEN’s annual day of action to spread awareness about the effects of the bullying and harassment to LGBTQ students .If any student is interested in participating come to SAGA TODAY to learn more in the library classroom during G period .If you can not attend Thursday’s meeting talk to Pete Solomon .Remember I belong ,You belong, We belong

 

 

Do you need a dress for the Prom? Project Hope is giving out FREE Prom dresses. Say Yes to the Prom Dress Boutique is located at 83 Audubon Street, New Haven. They will be open until April 28th. Hours are Monday-Friday 3-8:00pm, and Saturdays 9am-5pm.

Attention sophomores who are interested in applying for junior AP Language – You must turn in your application essays to Megan when we return from break on Monday, April 23rd.  If you have any questions or need a copy of the application, stop in this week to see Megan in Thomas 416.
