Due to a conflict with Yale’s Spring Orientation, Julie’s College Knowledge Seminar for TODAY has been CANCELED. Participants should please see her in Student Services today to pick up paperwork. There are still a few spaces available, so interested juniors can still sign up. The Seminar will begin next Tuesday, the 11th and run through May.

 

Congratulations to Sound School Junior Brianna Lane for taking first place in the Connecticut Second District, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Voice of Democracy audio-essay scholarship program. Her entry now goes on to state-wide judging for a chance to represent Connecticut nationally and vie for the $30,000 top prize. Additional congratulations to Oliver Mackinnon and Olivia Regan for submitting outstanding essays to the VFW New Haven post.  

 

Take a leap into the new year! Come see the 2017 movie "Leap!", a beautiful story of two orphans’ journey to Paris to fulfill their lifelong dreams, starring Elle Fanning, Nat Wolff, Maddie Ziegler, and Carly Rae Jepsen, on Friday, January 4th after-school! For those who are interested, the movie screening will be in Room 715 at the Foote Building from 2:45 to 4:30. Don’t miss an opportunity to discover your greatest passion.

 

Attend the first Holiday Themed Stress Free Zone created by Ashley Perez tomorrow (Wednesday) during H period in the cafe. Theme is Christmas & will be doing related stress free activities. It is a perfect opportunity to relax, forget about work and have a great time. Anyone is welcome to attend. 

 

 

This is a reminder to any of Paula’s students that have missed any days of the macroinvertebrate lab calculations, graphing or analysis  to stay after today(? Tuesday to get caught up on this work.

 

Namaste Staff and Students, This week’s Group Meditation session will be on Thursday, Period G in room 403. Walk Ins are allowed. Doors close by 10:30 am. Please be there on time and with a PASS. 

 

Attention members of the sailing team and any students who are interested in joining the sailing team:  The first of our winter meetings is today in John Buell’s room in the Anderson building.  We will be finished at 4 PM.  All members should attend if they can.

 

Attention Student Council Members: There will be a meeting of the Student Council today during G period in John Buell’s room.

 

 

The sound school community service club will be at the soup kitchen December 12, 2018 from 2:30 – 5:00. You MUST sign up outside of Emerson 112 to attend, space is limited to 12 students.

 

 

The Ocean Engineering 2 Class is running a ‘Baked Goods’ Fundraiser in preparation for all of your holiday festivities. Their selection includes pies, tea breads, and cookie dough… all freshly made by Bishop’s Orchards. These baked goods would be a great gift to family or a perfect addition to any holiday meal. Place your order during the lunch waves through THURSDAY!

 

There will be a drop in info session in Emerson 112 on THURSDAY between 2:30 – 3:00 for any student interested in attending the National FFA Convention October 30 – November 2, 2019. Your dues MUST be paid or a payment arrangement must be made prior to attending.

 

 

Students who like to express their passion on paper: The Sound School magazine is looking for you to submit. Please submit your artwork, writing, or whatever you want to the Sound School magazine. The artist with the winning cover names the magazine. Cover art is due by January 4th. Please share your work with melissa.dailey@nhps.net. Please name the document, “Sound Magazine + your name.”

 

 

 Let’s think about how we can help others as the weather gets colder. Donate warm winter coats for children or adults to Melissa in Emerson 107 between now and January 6th. Jordan’s Furniture will have the coats dry cleaned and distributed in New Haven.
