Are you a native speaker of a language not taught at Sound School? Would you like to compete reciting a famous poem in your native language? If you are a native speaker of Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, French, German, Ancient Greek, Modern Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Portuguese, Polish, or Russian, and are serious about memorizing a 25-line poem and presenting it in front of a panel of judges, come see Lori Blank in Anderson 606 this week!

Paula is looking for 2-3 students who would like to add their artistic talents to the mural in the foyer of the Foote building. You may receive community service hours for this work. We will start this Thursday after school so contact Paula if you are interested.
Our fourth annual Shake it Up! Day where students and teachers are able to participate in fun enrichment activities that fall outside of our regular classes will be coming in April. If you have a skill you’d like to teach your peers, if you would like to share an aspect of your culture, or if you have a hobby you’d like to display, you can submit a proposal to run a Shake it Up! Day workshop. Workshops should have an enrichment focus area such as art, history, culture, or volunteer work. See the orange information sheets posted around campus for how to submit your Shake it Up! Day workshop proposal. See Megan in Thomas 416 if you have any questions.

The FFA Fishing Directed Lab is sponsoring a trip this Saturday, Feb 2 from 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m.to the Connecticut Fly Fishing Expo in South Windsor CT and Cabelas Outfitters. The trip will present an opportunity to experience more about Fly Fishing, learn to tie a fly, and shop for fishing tackle. Last year a number of our students received free fly fishing gear. If you are interested in attending or need more information, please see Jack Walsh or George Baldwin for a permission slip.
The Sound School PAC is hosting the next Superintendent’s “coffee and conversation” gathering TOMORROW from 5:30 – 7:30. We need your support and participation to help represent Sound School to the Superintendent and other district families. More specifically, we need students who will volunteer to babysit! You will get community service hours and some snacks. Please sign up with Evelyn at the Main Office.
Make dinner a selfless act by joining the Senior Ocean Engineering Class on Tuesday February 5th, from 5-9 at Chipotle in Branford for their Restaurant Night. 33% of all proceeds will be donated to Ocean Engineering 2 for their trip to Tennessee this summer.
