Wednesday, March 20, 2019: D-Day

 

The Sound School Chess Club will be hosting a meeting during G period in the library today (Wednesday March 20th) for those who are interested. 

 

 

 

On Sunday, March 24th , The Commercial and Recreational Fisheries FFA Subchapter is sponsoring a trip to the New England Saltwater Fishing Show at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence. Students will meet at the Sound School at 8:00am and will return at 5:30 pm. For permission slip or information see Jack Walsh or George Baldwin in the Foote Building.

 

 

Do you want to go climbing, eat pizza and have ice cream all while supporting The Sound Schools trip to The National FFA convention? Join us on April 11th from 430-730 at Jordan’s furniture. Please pre-register for climbing by signing up in the main office and bringing your $25 fee! See you there!

 

 

Spend a Day with Habitat! Volunteers are welcome to join Habitat for Humanity at its worksite in New Haven or at its ReStore in Wallingford. Volunteers ages 16 and older are needed Tuesdays through Saturdays. Please go to habitatgnh.org and register.

 

The After School Program will be running out of Megan’s room in the Thomas building TODAY and TOMORROW.  TODAY will have an environmental education workshop with Cori from the New Haven Land Trust, and TOMORROW will have a math enrichment workshop with Mr. Padro.  As always, homework and project help will be provided by student tutors and teachers each day. 

Do you have a home Theater, or do you just like movie snacks, if you do, the After school ROV team is raffling off a movie bucket. Tickets will be sold during g period and for further questions, ask Anthony Corolla for more details

 

Attention Divers!!!!

We will have a MANDATORY meeting for all members TODAY during g-period. We will spend the first half discussing upcoming club events: Beneath the Sea Conference, Reef Ball Dives, Spring Class Dates, and club Apparel. The second half of the meeting will be focused on the Bonaire trip. Students who signed up to go to Bonaire must be there! Please see Pete personally if you cannot attend. 

 

 

Mrs. Improta and the Language Department are planning a trip to Italy and Greece for spring 2020.  The trip is open to all Sound School students.  If you would like to know more, please stop by her classroom in Emerson or Lori’s classroom in Anderson.  Don’t miss this great opportunity! 

 

Anyone who wants to be a district or state FFA officer please apply by April 1st. Please go to ctffa.org and scroll down to applicants and select state officer or district president application.

Prom is coming! Dresses are in demand! Consider donating or even taking a dress from Melissa’s room, Emerson 107. We will collect, swap, distribute, and finally donate dresses on March 31st. Jordan’s Furniture will have the dresses dry cleaned and distributed by Project Hope CT, a New-Haven based organization.

 

The Senior Ocean Engineering class is hosting a MONTH. LONG. RAFFLE!! For the month of April, they are giving away one prize for each day of the month. Some prizes include Amazon gift cards, movie passes, and even tickets to a New York Yankees game!! They will be selling tickets during all three lunch waves! But get your tickets soon, they cut off ticket sales the last day of March so they can start announcing winners April 1st. Support the Ocean Engineering class while getting a chance to win over $1000 in prizes!!
