The After School Program, running out of Megan’s room this Wednesday and Thursday, will have many great activities next week:

  • THE PROGRAM WILL NOT BE RUNNING ON TUESDAY AFTER SCHOOL.
  • Wednesday will have a math session with Mr. Padro.
  • Thursday will have the last junior college prep workshop with Nilsa and an environmental education workshop with Cori.

Those who attend over the next two weeks will be eligible to attend an all-day field trip to Quassy Amusement Parks in June.

Yearbooks are now available for pre-order in Katie’s room. Please bring cash or check (written to Sound School) for $40 to secure your yearbook, limited copies are available. Seniors yearbooks are included in their senior dues. Old yearbooks are also for sale for $20.

Sound School Community: In early observance of Memorial Day, the POW/MIA flag has been hoisted in remembrance for those who have died in service of the United States of America. The black POW/MIA flag is a visible reminder of those who were either taken as prisoners of war, or went missing in action overseas.

Prom people – did you borrow a dress and want to pay it forward? Did you buy a dress and probably will never wear it again? Did you buy or borrow a dress or tux that probably won’t fit by the next event? Rather than have them take up room in your closet why not have them take up space in ours?  Donate formal wear to Melissa in room 107. We will have them cleaned and ready for the next deserving person.

Students interested in participating in the Dragon Boat Race on June 1 please sign up in the main office. Community Service Hours will be awarded.

9th, 10th, and 11th graders — Are you interested in learning Arabic, German, Greek, Irish, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian, Ukrainian, or Urdu next year at Yale? Register NOW for the WorldCLASS program that will meet once a week from October to May and earn a quarter credit. New Haven Public students usually receive a scholarship for the $500 cost, so see your World Languages teacher for more information or go to this link https://worldclass.macmillan.yale.edu/

The Sound School must be in compliance with State Health Statutes.  We need a current physical and immunization history for all 9th graders before you return to school in August, and we are very pleased at the number of students who brought their medical documents in during the last week.  We now have 42% of freshmen prequalified for sophomore year.  Keep those documents coming! Let’s get this done before school gets out in June!  If you have questions, talk to our Nurse, Rosellen, in Emerson.
