On November 18, the Sound School is slated (through representatives of the PAC) to work the Fantasy of Lights at Lighthouse Park.
A Sign up sheet will be in the main office. They are looking for about 15 students. This is a Sound School tradition and a great opportunity to earn Community Service hours.
Elizabeth Fontana and Nayelimar Fuentes are selling power strips with the Elm Energy Efficiency Project for $6. Using power strips can save your home money and help the environment. Profits go to support Nayelimar’s capstone to paint an environmental awareness mural at the Sound School. Speak to Libby Fontana or Nayelimar Fuentes to place orders by Friday, November 15th. The second day of Vet Tech is today! Make sure you go to Kim’s room in Foote for it after school! It will be from 2:30-4:30pm! Hope all those who were there last time came come!
Juniors: Permission slips to attend the National Hispanic College Fair on Friday November 8th at the University of Bridgeport must be returned to Nilsa TODAY.
Do you want to learn to play the guitar? Did you ever think about writing a song? Do you want to try something different for a winter SAE? If so please come to Foote room 725 immediately after school on Thursday to hear about a possible winter SAE opportunity.
If you are interested in competing in an Ocean themed jeopardy style regional competition, an environmentally themed team competition or want to know more about it, stop in McNeil 307 after school TODAY and TOMORROW to see what it’s about. Teams will be preparing and practicing through the Fall for regional competitions and a chance at National competitions in the spring. Practices and meetings will be from 2:30-4:30. Stop by and chat for details if you’re having trouble making the afternoon.
The Sound School Community Service Club in cooperation with The Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen is collecting the following items: Canned Green beans, Boxed stuffing, canned cranberry sauce and Turkey, chicken or veggie broth in an effort to help feed 1500 people this thanksgiving. Please bring your items in to your favorite classroom teacher before November 15 so you can win a pizza party!
Anyone interested in taking a free college course in January must see Julie in Student Services on any Tuesday through November 5th. You need to be a junior or senior with good grades and responsible behaviors. Both NEW and RETURNING students must apply, so don’t delay.
On Saturday the Sound School Sailing Team hosted the 10th annual Joe Mangenella Regatta. 3 schools attended – Xavier, Litchfield and Duxbury, Massachusetts. Each school had two boats in each race and scores were kept by school. After five races Sound School as a team came in 3rd with Duxbury wining the day, Xavier coming in second and Litchfield in 4th place. Sound School was led by skippers Esther O’Shea, Lucy Noble, Anja Nikkel, Ladajah Burney and Levi Sibley. A hearty congratulations to all Sound sailors who performed well in what were often tricky light air conditions.
